Job Description:
Responsible to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Also may fabricate replacement and new parts for industrial machinery.
1) Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
2) Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
3) Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
4) Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
5) Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide on-the-job training to new employees.
2. Accurately account for all time spent per job.
3. Keep work area clean including shop floor.
4. Minor maintenance of machines to include oiling, greasing, cleaning, check belts and other wear items
5. Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Working knowledge of manual and CNC fabricating, boring machines
- Good overall mechanical knowledge and experience
- Must meet requirement of assessment to demonstrate working knowledge of the skills to perform the functions of the job
- Must possess a good work ethic
- Valid
